The Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, officially declared a 3-day period of mourning in the Armed Forces as of 30 January until 2 February 2023, following this morning’s tragic event, which resulted in the demise of Lieutenant (Pilot) Marios – Michail Touroutsikas.
In connection with the crash of the F-4E Phantom II fighter jet, the Minister of National Defence stated:
“While the search operation to locate the pilot is still underway, we would like to express our sadness and grief at the loss of the co-pilot following the crash of the fighter jet during a training flight in Andravida.
Our thoughts go to the Lieutenant’s family to whom we offer our sympathy and sincere condolences”.
