The Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias attended this morning the oath taking ceremony of the Hellenic Military Academy Cadets of Class I, at the Hellenic Military Academy in Vari-Attica.

The oath was taken by 151 men and 37 women who are the Hellenic Military Academy Cadets of Class I (Class of 2018) “Lieutenant General Konstantinos Kallaris”. This Class also comprised 21 Greek-Cypriots and 13 foreigners from Albania, Armenia, Libya, Nigeria and Senegal.

After the completion of the oath-taking ceremony, the Minister of National Defence made the following statement:

“Today I had the big pleasure and honour, here at the Hellenic Military Academy, to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the freshmen Cadets. First of all, it is very important that, besides Greek freshmen Cadets, we also have Cadets from Cyprus and from various European and African countries.

It is a token of recognition of the significance, the great significance, of the Hellenic Military Academy. Beyond that however, I would also like to say that the appearance of the Cadets today filled me with joy and pride since, during these difficult times, a great part of society looks forward to its organised part comprised of the Hellenic Army and the Greek Armed Forces, so as to ensure the society’s security, this supreme benefit, against all foreign threat and plan.

I am certain that the young Cadets, who took the oath today, along with their senior colleagues, will become a part of this big Armed Forces’ family that provides a great service to the country. I would also like to cordially congratulate their parents because, thanks to them and with their support, these children reached this point and I am sure that they will suceed even higher”.
