Today Tuesday 23 February 2021, the Deputy Minister of National Defense Alkiviadis Stefanis had an online communication with the Australian Minister for Veteran Affairs and Defence Personnel Mr. κ. Darren Chester.
The Australian Ministry for Veteran Affairs presented a new proposal for the construction of monuments on the island of Limnos, as a gesture to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served in WW1 and WW2 and in the Gallipoli Campaign.
The project will be funded by the Australian Government and aims to promote the island of Limnos as a pole of attraction for Australian, New-Zealand, British and Greek expatriates in Australia.
The teleconference was also attended by the Ambassador of Australia to Greece Mr. Arthur Spyrou.
