Order of the Day of the Minister of National Defence Evangelos  Apostolakis on the Anniversary of 25 March 1821

March 25, 2019

“We watched here today as the men and women of the Armed Forces proudly paraded, rendering due honours for the anniversary of the Hellenic Revolution of 25 March 1821.

I would like to congratulate the Chiefs of General Staff, the Officers, NCOs, the men and women of the Armed Forces, for their effort for today’s excellent parade.

I would also like to remind everyone that we must follow history, examine and be taught by it. That’s what we do today, we are inspired by the heroes of the Revolution of 1821 who paid our right to live in a free country with their blood.

The Hellenic Armed Forces have an excellent relationship with society and enjoy mutual appreciation and that’s something we must safeguard and continue.

We also have with us the Defence Minister of Cyprus, whom I kindly asked to convey to our Cypriot brothers our greetings, as well as our constant support and solidarity.

Thank you and Happy 25th of March to all. Know that the Armed Forces are here to protect the country’s national integrity and independence, trying to maintain peace and cooperation in the region.

Happy 25th of March to all”.
