The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, states in his Order of the Day for the Armed Forces Day (21 November 2025):
“Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, Soldiers, Seamen, Airmen, National Guardsmen, Reservists and Civilian Personnel of the Armed Forces,
Today, we honour the Armed Forces of our Country.
We honour the constitutional guardian of our National Security and Independence.
We honour the constant presence of the Army, the Navy and Air Force at every point in our Territory.
We honour those who have served, those who are serving today and those who fell in the line of Duty.
November 21st inextricably links national memory with our Religious tradition.
We also celebrate the Presentation of Virgin Mary, Defender of the Hellenic Armed Forces.
Virgin Mary has always safeguarded the Armed Forces and through them our Country.
It is a symbol of commitment to the supreme values that constitute the identity, cohesion, and Historical Continuity of the Nation.
In a geopolitical environment of shifting balances, the Armed Forces are a stable pillar of deterrence, security, and international credibility.
They consistently and vigorously promote the values of Democracy, Peace, Freedom, and Justice.
They defend the Sovereignty, Territorial Integrity, and Sovereign Rights of Greece.
They strengthen our position in the Mediterranean, in Europe, and in the international arena.
At the same time, their work goes beyond an operational mission.
Being there for society during natural disasters and trials demonstrates the profound ethical dimension of the role of the Armed Forces.
It highlights the person behind the uniform.
It strengthens the relationship of trust between the Armed Forces and Greek people.
Women and men of the Armed Forces,
The Greek people acknowledges that you are the guardians of the National Territory.
They know that, if required, you will do what is necessary.
They feel proud of you.
They honour you.
They acknowledge, support, and reinforce your mission.
Caring for personnel is a decisive factor in operational readiness and a cornerstone of our Country’s deterrent power.
Goal: stable; Goal: non-negotiable.
I invite and encourage you to continue executing with devotion your constitutional duties, guided by the values and ideals that have shaped the Nation throughout time and History.
I wish you and your families, Health, Prosperity and Progress.
Long live the Hellenic Armed Forces!
Long live Greece!”
