Participation of the Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos in the One-day Conference on the Issue of “Unmanned Vehicles (UxVs), Systems and Technologies”

The Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos participated in a one-day Conference on the issue of: “Unmanned Vehicles (UxVs), Systems and Technologies”, which took place at the Armed Forces Officers Club.

The Conference which was organised by the General Directorate for Defence Investments and Armaments (GDDIA) of the Ministry of National Defence, in the context of materialising the National Defence and Industrial Strategy, was attended by representatives of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, the domestic defence industry, as well as academia and the research community.

The Conference’s objective was to facilitate the contacts as a base for further national cooperations in research and technology, in the field of unmanned vehicles.

The Conference’s opening address was delivered by the Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos and the General Director of GDDIA Vice Admiral Kyriakos Kyriakidis.

During the Conference’s sessions, the representatives of General Staffs presented subjects of operational requirements, international programmes currently in development, as well as subjects of regulatory nature regarding the Conference’s main theme.

Representatives of the domestic defence industry and of the academia-research community with pertinent activity and experience, presented technological capabilities, developments and conclusions from participation in pertinent research programmes of technology and development, in light of the developments regarding the funding from the European Defence Fund.
