The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Ioannis Kefalogiannis represented today, Tuesday 19 December 2023, the Minister of National Defence Mr Nikos Dendias, at the remote Meeting conducted via VTC and initiated by the US Secretary of Defence Mr Lloyd Austin, with the participation of Defence Ministers, mainly from EU states and the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.
The subject of the meeting were the crucial issues of security in the Red Sea, while particular emphasis was given to the restitution of free maritime navigation, in light of the Houthi attacks.
Mr Kefalogiannis reaffirmed the powerful and steadfast devotion of Greece in the principles of International Law, stressing its role as a pillar of stability, peace and prosperity in an ever-changing international environment.
