The Minister of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos participated, today Tuesday 26 April, in a Defence Ministers meeting from 40 countries, organised due to an initiative of the US Defence Minister Mr Lloyd Austin at the “Ramstein” Air Base, in Germany, where they discussed the developments in Ukraine after the Russian invasion and the need for immediate provision of assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the defence of the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
The Chief of HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros also participated in the meeting.
During his remarks, the Minister of National Defence stressed that the Russian invasion of Ukraine constitutes a blatant violation of the International Law which subverts European security and the foundations of international lawfulness.
He stressed that Greece adopted, from the first moment, a clear and outright negative stance against the invasion and the Russian revisionism and stood with its partners and allies, in terms of the enforcement of sanctions and their complete implementation, despite the heavy financial toll they incur.
In the spirit of solidarity and support towards Ukraine, our country, after deliberations with the EU partners and the NATO allies, offers every possible humanitarian and defensive assistance, contributing to the struggle of the Ukrainian people for the defence and protection of their liberty.
