The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos had today afternoon, Monday 9 May 2022, a phone call communication with the Secretary of Defence of the United States,
Mr. Lloyd James Austin.
The two Ministers underlined the excellent level of strategic defence cooperation between Greece and the US, the importance, in this context, of the Mutual Defence Cooperation Agreement (MDCA), and Greece’s role as an ally, to the security and stability in the broader region.
The developments in Ukraine were discussed and Greece’s practical contribution was acknowledged by the US side.
The Minister of National Defence also briefed his US counterpart on the recent developments in our region, underlining the need for full respect of International Law and the principle of good-neighbourly relations.
