Today, on the 20th of January 2021, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos had a phone call communication with the Defence Secretary of the United Kingdom Mr. Ben Wallace.
The two men discussed matters pertaining to the bilateral defence cooperation and they highlighted their joint desire to further enhance it and render it mutually beneficial.
Mr. Panagiotopoulos also exchanged with his British counterpart views on the current security situation in the Eastern Mediterranean. As far as the dialogue with Turkey is concerned, in the context of the rules of International Law and respecting the principles of good neighbourly conditions, the Minister of National Defence stressed that it exclusively concerns the issue of the delimitation of the continental shelf and the Exclusive Economic Zone.
The British Defence Secretary accepted the invitation extended by his Greek counterpart to visit our country in the near future.
