The Ministry of National Defence organised an event for the presentation of the book “Tribute to Greece 1940-1944” by the French Philhellene Roger Milliex, on Tuesday 30 January 2018 at 19.00 at the Ceremonies Hall of the Armed Forces Officers Club.
The event was honoured by the presence of His Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos who also made an address. The Alternate Minister of National Defence Dimitris Vitsas and the Ambassador of France in Athens Christophe Chantepy also addressed those present.
The book “Tribute to Greece 1940-1944” contains texts and accounts by esteemed French personalities, collected by the Philhellene French member of the Resistance Roger Milliex during 1945-1948, which laud Greece and its people for their contribution in their fight against fascism and the protection of European values.
The Ministry of National Defence republished this book enriched with pictures of that time and all the works of art, creations of French artists, who were donated to Greece thus honouring its fight.
The contents of the book are not just a collective demonstration of admiration and fraternal solidarity of the French towards Greece. They transmit an everlasting political message of respect and admiration, always current, rendering this publication a valuable guide in the travel through historic memory.

– Sia Anagnostopoulou, MP and Professor of History at the Panteion University.
– Konstantinos Tsoukalas, Professor Emeritus of Sociology of the University of Athens and President of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture.
– Manos Stefanidis, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Theatre Studies of the University of Athens.
