The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Thanasis Davakis, attended the oath- taking ceremony of the Class of 2026 Career Sergeants, named the «Major General Dimitrios Theodorakis» Class, conducted today, Friday, 03 July 2026, at the facilities of the NCO Academy in Trikala, where he presented diplomas to the new sergeants.
His Eminence Mr Chrysostomos, Metropolitan Bishop of Trikki, Gardiki and Pyli, officiated the Doxology.
Present at the ceremony were MP Marina Kontotoli, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff (HAGS) Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, HAGS Inspector General/Director of Military Training Directorate Major General Anastasios Dimoulas, Commandant of the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy Brigadier General Konstantinos Kotakos, representatives of the local government and various organisations and security forces, active-duty and retired officers, as well as relatives of the newly appointed Sergeants. 160 Career Sergeants graduated from the Academy, of whom 115 were from Greece, 40 from Cyprus and 5 from Georgia.
In his address to those who had just taken the oath, the Deputy Minister of National Defence stated:
“It gives me great pleasure to be here today, once more, in Trikala, at the historic seat of the NCO Academy. Today’s oath-taking ceremony is a special moment, not only for you and your families but also for the entire Army.
We welcome you with love, knowing that you will become vital members of our units and will guarantee the security of our homeland.
The Armed Forces you are joining are undergoing a transformation that will turn them into the most modern, capable and digital structure of the Greek state. Major initiatives, such as the housing programme, are reshaping the way personnel welfare is addressed».
