The President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias visited the Ministry of National Defence today and he was briefed on all current issues by the political and military leadership.
The President of the Republic was welcomed by the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias.
The briefing to Mr.Papoulias was also attended by the Alternate Minister of National Defence Fofi Gennimata, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Ioannis Lambropoulos, the General Secretary of the Ministry of National Defence Antonios Economou, the Chief of HNGS Evangelos Apostolakis, the Chief of HAFGS Evangelos Tournas and the Chief of HAGS Christos Manolas.
After the briefing, The President of the Republic and the Minister of National Defence had a private meeting.
In the end of the meeting, Mr. Papoulias made the following statement:
“I wish to thank the Minister for the invitation which he addressed me to visit the Ministry of National Defence. It was a very interesting visit. I wish to thank the political leadership of the Ministry as well as the military leadership of the Armed Forces.
The Hellenic Armed Forces have a high level of training and readiness and this is very important for our country’s security and for defending our national interests and territorial integrity. In a region affected by many risks, the Hellenic Armed Forces are a factor of security and peace. And this has been achieved thanks to all men and women of the Armed Forces, to the political leadership, to the Minister to whom I wish to be strong and continue his work”.
