The allowance for service at borderline areas, the payment of which had been suspended by the coalition government of New Democracy-PASOK, was resumed from the very first moment that Panos Kammenos took office as Minister of Naitonal Defence. The immediate payment of the subsistence allowance to those who serve at borderline areas was the first order that he gave as Minister of National Defence on January 29, 2015.

By his decision, the payment of the subsistence allowance to personnel serving at the frontiers, which had been suspended for two years by the coalition government of New Democracy-PASOK whose member was also Mr. A. Davakis, was resumed without any delay. The Ministry of National Defence continues and will continue to pay the subsistence allowance to personnel serving at the frontiers though with a short delay due to liquidity shortage. The payment of the allowance for two more months has already been approved.
