By means of the Joint Ministerial Decision of the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, and the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance responsible for fiscal policy, Thanos Petralias, on 30 July 2026, the procedures for the granting of the command related allowance to Armed Forces personnel were completed, as that was established and incorporated in the provisions of the new Armed Forces pay grades by means of law 5265/2026 of the Ministry of National Defence.

In this manner, the Ministry of National Defence is implementing an additional essential commitment of the “Agenda 2030”, by recognising and rewarding the increased administrative responsibility of the personnel of all ranks, who serve in command posts within the Armed Forces.

It is pointed out, that it is the first time that a special command related allowance for personnel selected and serving in posts of responsibility/command is established, regardless of their rank or category. Approximately 2,000 beneficiaries will receive the new allowance, with the amounts ranging from 100 to 500 Euro on a monthly basis, depending on their command level and duties. Roughly 35% of beneficiaries are NCOs, while 65% are Commissioned Officers, a fact that highlights the intent to recognise the responsibility incorporated in command posts throughout all the levels of the chain of command, through the new allowance.
 

The decision will have retroactive effect for all beneficiaries from October 2025, thus implementing the steady commitment of the political leadership of the Ministry and the Government, as that was expressed in the provisions of law 5265/2026.

The Ministry of National Defence continues the implementation of the reform with consistency, within the “Agenda 2030” framework, highlighting the personnel of the Armed Forces as its most central component, by actively recognising their assumption of responsibility and contribution to the Country.
