By decision of the Minister of National Defence Mr. Panos Panagiotopoulos, in the context of complete transparency and development of rules of healthy competition, for the first time a big issue in the country’s Armed Forces, relating to the way fuel supply is made so as to cover the needs in all branches and services of the Armed Forces, is resolved.
Specifically, the declaration for the joint fuel supply in the Armed Forces via Procurements of a high technological and financial value was published in the Official Journal of the European Communities. It was preceded by the formation of the Cross-party Parliamentary Committee, consisted of delegates from parties in the Parliament, consultants from the Court of Auditors and delegates from Ministries concerned.
By the implementation of the aforementioned procedure, a frame of complete transparency for all procurement procedures and important scale economies are accomplished, due to jointness of the Armed Forces’ fuel supply.
