Our country’s cultural growth is a high priority to the Government; thus realistic policies are produced to achieve this goal, with tangible and measurable results, as historical heritage is seen as a cornerstone of our National identity.

A flagship initiative is the reconstruction of the historical residence of the heroic warrior of the Macedonian Struggle Pavlos Melas, which was prepared for the past months by the Ministry of National Defence, with the decisive contribution of the Minister of Culture and Sports, Ms. Lina Mendoni.

This unique monument of preserving the Nation’s historical reserve has become property of the Ministry of National Defence, by donation of Pavlos Melas’ granddaughter Ms. Natalia Ioannidou, who keeps her family’s long tradition of offering and unconditional love to her Country.

The completion of the implementation of this project, which will be an accomplishment of high historical and artistic/architectural value, is expected within the current year, courtesy of the non-profit civil partnership of Drama “Kyklops”.
