On Friday, 16 April 2021, by authority of the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, the Director General of the General Directorate of Defence Investments and Armaments, Lieutenant General Theodoros Lagios (ret.) and the Director of the International Defence Cooperation of the Ministry of Defence of Israel (SIBAT), Brigadier General Yair Kulas (ret.) signed a Defence Interstate Agreement, between Greece and the State of Israel, concerning the establishment of an International Flights Training Center at the 120th Air Training Wing, in Kalamata.
The Agreement offers a final solution with regard to the ever-lasting problem of the Air Force Cadets training, with sufficient flight hours and state-of-the-art training equipment, while at the same time it essentially strengthens the strategic cooperation of Greece-Israel.
The signing of the agreement was also attended by the Defence Attaché of the State of Israel in Greece, Colonel Yossi Pinto (AF), the President and Chief Executive Officer of “Elbit Systems” Mr. Benhalel (Butzi) Machlis and an Israeli Delegation.
During the meeting, all necessary measures against the spread of “Covid-19” strain were kept.
