The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Ioannis Kefalogiannis signed the start of the tendering procedure within the framework of the maintenance/ improvement/ expansion of the infrastructure of the Crete Naval Base.

With the completion of the overall program, Souda Naval Base will be modernised and constitute the second permanent large base of the Hellenic Navy, along with the current main Naval Base in Salamis, while at the same time upgrading the already crucial operational role of Crete.
