The Alternate Minister of National Defence Dimitris Vitsas, while in Chaidari, answered a question by the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), with regards to the recent statements of the presidents of Turkey and Albania. He stated the following:
Greece is a peaceful country which claims nothing from anyone and respects the International Treaties. However, no one should even think that we would begin negotiations regarding our sovereign rights. Silence would be preferable for those who do not recall the historical facts and furthermore make statements about the sovereign rights of a country, which has proven through struggles and sacrifices, which we also mention today, that it has the capabilities to safeguard them. So the Greek people can rest assured that our sovereign rights are in no way in danger, whatever anyone else says.
