Regarding the information on the meeting between the Ministers of Defence of Greece and Turkey, in the margins of the Extraordinary Meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence in Brussels, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos made the following statement:

“With Mr. Akar we discussed in a very good atmosphere the conditions and possibilities to establish a climate of tranquility and security in the region of the Aegean Sea, far from tensions, provocative behaviours
and grandstanding statements.

We agreed that the calm climate in bilateral relations could be of benefit for both our countries, especially in view of the upcoming tourism season.

Of course, no issue regarding any “sharing of the Aegean” came up, nor could it come up”.
