The Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias, upon his arrival today, 30 August 2023, at the Informal Meeting of EU Defence Ministers in Toledo, stated the following:
“Common European Defence is very important for Greece, considering the EU’s and Greece’s firm position against any revisionism.
In this context, we will discuss today on Ukraine and the Western Balkans, which is also very important for Greece, given the fact that we are present in both Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, in Operation “Althea”.
We shall also discuss on the challenges on the security environment, coming from Africa. We shall discuss on Niger. I would like to remind you that I have visited Niger and I know President Bazoum, who is currently held prisoner.
We shall also discuss on another country with Hellenic military presence, Mozambique, which also has a Hellenic community.
The Greek effort is to always attend these meetings, to have a view, and to broaden our footprint to the European Security and Defence Policy.”
