On Thursday, 15 February 2024, upon his arrival at the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence in Brussels, the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, stated:

“Good morning.

Today, at the Meeting of Ministers of Defence, we will discuss preparations for the NATO Summit in Washington. Also, we will talk about supporting Ukraine.

I will also have the opportunity to meet with my French counterpart, Sébastien Lecornu, within the context of the Meeting.

I think that being on the same page with France, with which we have a close, strategic relationship, is always very important.

Additionally, I will also have the opportunity to sign the accession of Greece to the European Sky Shield Initiative, a German initiative for anti-missile protection. I would like to point out that the accession of Turkey to the Initiative will also be signed on the same day.

I will also have the opportunity to meet my Turkish counterpart. I think that it is a good opportunity to remind everyone of the utmost importance of maintaining the present climate of detente in order to avoid any form of provocation or actions that might undermine the current atmosphere.
