“Cooperation with Egypt is very important at all levels. It is with great pleasure that I wish to state that we have begun a defence cooperation a long time ago, since when we took office during the first SYRIZA – INDEPENDENT HELLENES’ government.
We have signed a contract of military cooperation, this morning we had a common aeronautical exercise in the area between Crete and Egypt and we are preparing for the EEZ, because our sea borders will be united with the delimitation of the Economic Zone. Common exercises will be extended towards the participation of other countries, such as Cyprus or other moderate countries of the Middle East.
An important issue regarding defence is the control of the wider area of Greek and Egyptian sea borders for the illegal trafficking of oil, weapons and humans because the funding of terrorism passes by this area. We are planning jointly common exercises, common training and common actions in the wider area.
