The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, made the following statement with regard to the passing of pilots involved in the Canadair CL-215 firefighting aircraft crash in Evia: “The loss of lives of Hellenic Air Force Officers and pilots of the firefighting aircraft, in the line of duty and while attempting to protect the lives and property of citizens, as well as the environment of our Country, causes deep grief. Out thoughts and prayers are with the families and the colleagues impacted by today’s tragedy and we express to them our heartfelt condolences.”
