“We are here these Holy days with the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff and the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff to see the mission in Kosovo. As you know, there is a permanent mission, which has essentially undertaken the guarding of the camp.
We confirmed, once again, that they carry out their mission in the best way possible and provide Greece with the opportunity and the ability to participate in the maintenance of peace and security in the region, especially now, when the Kosovo issue rises in importance.
Every time we confirm, this is my third time here, every time we come, the organisation and execution of their mission is better. The personnel are hand picked, they are informed and aware of what they are here to do.
We wished Happy Holidays and a Happy Easter to them and their families.
Happy Holidays to all”.
Q: So, Mr. Minister, Greece does play a role from the Balkans to the East Mediterranean?
E. APOSTOLAKIS: Of course. This is something I stressed to the personnel here, that Greece now has a very serious, active international role, fights for peace and security in the region, in every way possible. With the peacekeeping missions, with the NATO missions, and the synergies with the states with which we cooperate in East Mediterranean and the Balkans. Our participation in any such mission is a brick in the wall of the greater effort made by Greece right now.
