The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias, will be visiting Cyprus as of Tuesday 18 July until Thursday 20 July 2023, representing the Ministry of National Defence at the 49th anniversary commemoration events, paying tribute to the Officers and Soldiers killed in action and missing in action following the Turkish invasion of 1974.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence will be received by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikolaos Christodoulides, and will meet with his Beatitude Archbishop of New Justinian and All Cyprus Georgios, as well as with high-ranking government officials. Furthermore, he will be visiting Units and Services of the National Guard General Staff (GEEF) and of the Hellenic Contingent of Cyprus (ELDYK).
During the foregoing commemoration events, Mr. Hardalias will be accompanied by the Chief/HNDGS, General Konstantinos Floros.

Tuesday, 18 July 2023
– Visit onboard the PSARA Frigate, at the port of Limassol.
– Visit at the HQ of the Mari Naval Base “Lieutenant General Evangelos Florakis” under which the Warships Command, the Command of the Navy Base, and the Underwater Demolition Unit fall.
Wednesday, 19 July 2023
– Visit to the “Imprisoned Graves”.
– Meeting with His Beatitude Archbishop of New Justinian and All Cyprus Georgios at the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus.
– Attendance at the memorial service honouring the memory of the Greeks Killed in Action and those declared missing, to be held at the Hellenic Contingent of Cyprus.
– Meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikolaos Christodoulides, to be held at the Presidential Palace.
– Visit to Units of the Hellenic Contingent of Cyprus.
– Attendance and address at the commemoration events held for those declared missing following the Turkish invasion, to take place at the “Panorama of Missing Persons” at Pyrga village.
– Participation in a working dinner to be hosted by the General Director of the Ministry of Defence of Cyprus, Mr. Andreas Loukas.
Thursday, 20 July 2023
– Attendance at the memorial service honouring the memory of the Officers and Soldiers Killed in Action to be held at the Military Cemetery of Makedonitissa.
– Attendance at the memorial service honouring the memory of those Killed in Action during the Turkish invasion to take place at the Church of Varnavas Apostle at the Archdiocese of Cyprus.
