The Armed Forces stand by the side of children with special educational needs, by making available bus drivers – escorts for Special Education and Instruction School Units

The Ministry of National Defence, within the framework of the socially-engaged character of the Armed Forces, announces that 69 members of the Staff from all three Services (Hellenic Army, Hellenic Navy and Hellenic Air Force) are made available to the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, in order to help meet the urgent needs for bus drivers – escorts for Special Education & Instruction School Units during 2022 – 2023 school year.

Under the supervision of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, the members of the Armed Forces made available since the beginning of the school year on September 1st until December 23rd 2022 (subject to an extension until the end of the school year) ensure that children are timely and safely transported to and from their School Units.

The action shall be implemented at Special Education & Instruction School Units affiliated to the Regional Directorates for Education of Attiki, Thessaly, Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, Central Macedonia, Western Macedonia, Western Greece, Central Greece, the Southern Aegean and the Northern Aegean Sea.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias, stated with regard to the implementation of this action the following:
