The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Giannis Kefalogiannis, had a meeting on Friday 7 March 2025 with the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Innovation, Hybrid and Cyber (ASG/IHC), Jean Charles Ellermann-Kingombe at the Ministry of National Defence.
In the context of the meeting, issues of mutual interest have been discussed related to the exploitation of state-of-the-art technologies in the defence sector, the acceleration of NATO defence innovation, the protection of crucial subsea infrastructure and the role of the Southeastern Mediterranean Sea as a telecommunications and energy hub.
At the same time, views were exchanged on the international and regional developments in Ukraine and the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.
Mr. Kefalogiannis, on his part, highlighted Greece’s role as a pillar of stability and security in the wider region, emphasizing the reforms of the Government and the Ministry of National Defence in connection with the development of the Defence Industry and Innovation within the Hellenic Armed Forces. Special reference was made to the establishment and operation of the Hellenic Center for Defence Innovation (HCDI), which from its beginning up to the present moment, has produced tangible and valuable results.
