The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Hardalias Visits Armed Forces Units in the Drama Regional Unit

The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Hardalias, yesterday, Saturday 11 February 2023, during the third day of his visits to Formations and Units of the Armed Forces in Macedonia, accompanied, on a case-by-case basis, by the Commanders of the 1st Army/EU–OHQ Lieutenant General Ioannis Tsioplios, the HNDGS Special Warfare Command Lieutenant General Dimitrios Houpis and the C’ Army Corps/NRDC-GR Lieutenant General Paris Kapravelos, visited the premises of:

– The E’ Raiders Squadron in Drama.

– The 165 Multiple Rocket Launchers Squadron in Drama.

– The 518 Motorised Infantry Battalion in Nevrokopi.

– The Drama National Guard Battalion.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence, in the context of the visits, was briefed by the Commanders of the E’ Raiders Squadron Lieutenant Colonel Iraklis Koskeridis, the 165 Multiple Rocket Launchers Squadron Lieutenant Colonel Dimitrios Karaboutakis, the 518 Motorised Infantry Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Dimitrios Tsitakis and the Drama National Guard Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Panagiotis Athanasopoulos on the organisation, the mission and the current activities of the Units and conversed with the members on duty, the enlisted soldiers and the members of the National Guard.

Moreover, Mr Hardalias met with the Head of the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region Mr Christos Metios, the Deputy Head of the Drama Regional Unit Mr Grigoris Papaemmanouil and the Mayors of Drama Mr Christodoulos Mamsakos, Prosotsani Mr Theodoros Athanasiadis, Paranesti Mr Anastasios Kagiaoglou, Doxato Mr Themistoklis Zekeridis and Kato Nevrokopi Mr Ioannis Kyriakidis, in the presence of the Drama MP Mr Konstantinos Blouhos.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence, from the city of Drama, repeated that the undivided concern of the Political Leadership for the Armed Forces members is evident to everyone, while pertaining to our current relations with Turkey, he made the following statement:

Our minds and hearts are with the suffering people of Turkey. Whatever was asked of us has been provided through the European mechanism. And as you are well aware, a mobilisation is underway throughout Greece, so that we can respond to the requests regarding humanitarian as well as any other type of assistance”.
