The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Chardalias attended today, Friday 13 May 2022, the ceremony for the delivery of the donation of IT Systems for Data Centre use, by the “Motor Oil (Hellas)” company to the Armed Forces, which was hosted by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff and took place in the “IOANNIS KAPODISTRIAS” Hall, in the Ministry of National Defence.
The following individuals also attended the event: the Chief of HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros, the Chief of HAGS Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis, the Deputy Chief of HNGS Rear Admiral Georgios Kabourakis and the Deputy Chief of HAFGS Major General Dimosthenis Grigoriadis, as well as a delegation of Motor Oil (Hellas) company executives, led by the IT General Manager of the group Mr Nikolaos Giannakakis.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence mentioned the following in his address:
“I am particularly happy for this opportunity to attend this event hosted by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, to honour the “ΜΟΤOR OIL (HELLAS)” company, on the occasion of their kind gesture to donate an abundance of computer equipment of IT materials to the Armed Forces.
This particular contribution of the company, upgrades and modernises the current equipment, offering an active input to the enhancement of high availability of IT Systems of the Military Service, systems which actively participate in the enhancement of its operational readiness, but also of the combative might of the Armed Forces.
There is no doubt that ΜΟΤΟR OIL constitutes a modern energy group leading the field of crude oil refinement and commerce of petroleum products and lubricants, in Greece as well as the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean.
Being simultaneously active in the field of liquefied petroleum gas, commerce of electric energy, natural gas and renewable sources of energy, the company’s goals are ever-widening, adding new entrepreneurial horizons, widening the circle of its provided services and enhancing its pronounced mark on our national economy.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
There is no doubt that we live in times, when Europe experiences the greatest geopolitical and financial turmoil since the end of World War II, with the conflict in Ukraine in full force, the energy flux afflicting the global economy and the international surge of prices foiling all national budgets.
Therefore, in this thorny global financial circumstance, the donation of the ΜΟΤOR OIL group, on one hand constitutes an act of high added value and on the other hand a concrete proof of devotion, love and selfless contribution to the Armed Forces and the Homeland in general.
On behalf of the Ministry of National Defence, we express our appreciation towards the company and we thank the IT General Manager Mr Nikolaos Giannakakis who represents the group in today’s event.
I am absolutely content that the struggle of the Armed Forces finds supporters in the corporate world and in particular one of the greatest and most essential Groups in the country, a fact which demonstrates its unreserved interest for the great effort made by the Armed Forces, their personnel and of course the Military Leadership, so as to fulfil their mission successfully.
