The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias, visited Hellenic Army Formations, Units, and Surveillance Outposts in Central and Western Macedonia Regions.
More specifically, the Deputy Minister of National Defence visited the ΙΙ Mechanised Infantry Division at Edessa, the 1st Infantry Regiment, “NIKI” and “LAIMOS” Surveillance Outposts at Florina, as well as “KRYSTALLOPIGI” Surveillance Outpost at Kastoria.
Mr. Chardalias was briefed by their Commands on their history, organization, mission, and current activities.
He also toured their premises, where he talked to both personnel and
conscripts, extending his greetings on the occasion of Easter holidays.
In the context of the Ministry of National Defence close and substantial cooperation with local communities, the Deputy Minister of National Defence participated in working meetings held with local authorities and bodies as follows:
– At Edessa, with Pella Region Vice Governor, Mr. Iordanis Tzamtzis and the Mayor of Edessa, Mr. Dimitrios Giannou.
– At Florina, with Florina Region Vice Governor, Mr. Sotirios Vosdou, the Mayor of Florina, Mr. Vasileios Giannakis, and the Mayor of Prespes, Mr. Panagiotis Paschalidis.
During the said visits, the Deputy Minister of National Defence was accompanied by C’ Army Corps Commander, Lieutenant General, Sotirios Kostakoglou. Furthermore, the Commanders of ΙΙ Mechanised Infantry Division, Major General Aristeidis Iliopoulos, of 9th Motorized Brigade, Brigadier General Eleftherios Pinakis, of 1st Infantry Regiment, Colonel Anastasios Apostolidis, and 15th Infantry Regiment, Colonel Ioannis Smalios, were accordingly present.
