On Thursday 23 October 2025, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis attended the Oath Taking Ceremony of the First Year Students Class 2029 of the Nursing Officers School, at the School’s premises.
There, he was welcomed by the Commander of the Nursing Officers School, Brigadier General Maria Giannopoulou, as well as the Director of the Medical Directorate of the National Defence General Staff, Major General (AF) Konstantinos Siafakas, representing the Chief/HNDGS.
The oath taking Doxology was officiated by the Reverend Metropolitan of Kaisariani, Vyronas and Imittos Daniil. The Director of 401 General Military Hospital of Athens Brigadier General Ilias Poulakidas, representing the Chief/HAGS, the Director of the Medical Directorate of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Rear Admiral Sotirios Moraitis HN, representing the Chief/HNGS, and the Director of the Nursing Department of 251 Air Force General Hospital Brigadier General Athina Karydaki, representing the Chief/HAFGS, were also present at the Doxology.
Upon conclusion of the oath taking ceremony, Mr. Davakis stated:
“Today is an extremely important and emotional day for the young women and men who took the Nursing Officers School’s Student oath. With this oath, you have been incorporated in the big family of the Armed Forces, which serves the Country and Man with loyalty, devotion and self-denial.
The Nursing Officers School is distinguished for the high level of education it provides, the scientific training and the composition of its members. Your mission, as future officers of the Medical Corps, is sacred: to provide with humanity, professionalism and selflessness, wherever duty calls.
I extend my warm congratulations to all first year students and their families, who supported their choice to serve the Country through the noble path of nursing contribution.
I wish health, strength and a smooth career to everyone”.
