The Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis attended today, Friday 19 December 2025, the Oath-taking Ceremony of the 1st Year Cadets of the Hellenic Army Academy (HAA), accompanied by the Chief of HNDGS General Dimitrios Choupis and the Chief of HAGS Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis. There, he was received by the Commandant of the Hellenic Army Academy Major General Anastasios Polychronos.
After the end of the oath-taking ceremony, Mr Davakis stated:
“The Hellenic Army Academy has a longstanding history and exceptional contribution to the Nation. It provides a high level of military training and academic education, shaping officers with morality, discipline and a high sense of duty.
Today is a particularly important and emotional day for our young women and men who took the oath of the 1st Year Cadet. With this oath, they joined the great family of the Armed Forces and assumed the highest honour and responsibility to serve the Homeland with conviction, devotion and self-denial.
I would like to express my most sincere congratulations to each and every one of the new Cadets, as well as to their families, who supported their choice to serve the Homeland.
I wish you all good health, strength and may you excel in your career”.
Other attendees were Colonel (Arty) Andreas Prodromou as representative of the Chief of National Guard General Staff, the Commander of Naval Training Rear Admiral Spyridon Tsiafoutis HN as representative of the Chief of HNGS, the Commandant of the Hellenic Air Force Academy Major General (Pilot) Mattheos Kanoupakis as representative of the Chief of HAFGS, all the members of the Supreme Military Council, representatives of the Local Self-government, generals and senior officers of the Armed and Security Forces and retired Officers of the Armed Forces.
