The Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis Attends the Graduation Ceremony of the Second Lieutenants of the School of Application of the Medical Corps

On Friday 29 August 2025, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis attended the graduation ceremony of the Second Lieutenants of the School of Application of the Medical Corps.

The ceremony was also attended by the Commanding General of the Higher Army Support Military Command, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Vakentis, the Director of HAGS/Medical Directorate, Major General Georgios Dimitrakopoulos, the Director of the 401 Athens General Military Hospital, Brigadier General Ilias Poulakidas, the Commander of the School of Application of the Medical Corps Colonel Aristeidis Tsakiris, the Deputy Director of HAGS/Medical Directorate Colonel Christos Vamvakidis and the Secretary General of the Hellenic Red Cross, Georgios Skoumas.

28 Second Lieutenants graduated in total, out of whom twelve Doctors, twelve Nurses and four Psychologists.

After the ceremony, Mr Davakis addressed the graduates:

I see in your faces today the disposition to make your dream come true and your anticipation to serve the Armed Forces in their crucial medical sector. You are the doctors, the nurses, the psychologists who will staff our medical structures.

The conditions change, but the history of the Medical Corps and its contribution is such, that oblige us to appear worthy of our predecessors. Engage with the power of your soul in your assigned mission, with faith in the values of the Armed Forces and devotion to humans, always fulfilling your duty with self-denial.

I warmly congratulate you and wish you the best for your career”.
