The Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis participated in the United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial 2025, held in Berlin between 13 and 14 May, on the subject of the strategic reinforcement and transformation of the peacekeeping operations and missions of the UN.
Presenting his position, in the plenary session of the meeting, Mr Davakis pointed out the everlasting commitment of Greece to international peace and security, stressing the long-lasting and active participation of the Hellenic Armed Forces in missions of the UN. He also mentioned the importance of reinforcing the peacekeeping operations of the UN, beyond their simple adjustment to the international changing conditions, whereas he stressed that the previous commitments of our country are already in a stage of implementation.
At the same time, he stated the readiness of our country for the participation of Air Force experts in Rapid Deployment Level workshops of the UN, aiming at reinforcing the knowledge and understanding of the relative procedures, as well as projects regarding the development and application of systems that encounter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which pose a serious threat for the current peacekeeping operations.
