The Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis toured for two days, on 22 and 23 December 2025, Units and Surveillance Outposts in the area of responsibility of the Supreme Military Command of the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean, so as to exchange wishes with the personnel and the conscripts, in view of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
The Deputy Minister, accompanied by the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis and the Commanding General of the Supreme Military Command of the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean Dimitrios Vakentis, visited the Tactical Command 41 Infantry Regiment on Samothrace, the “AGRIELIA” Naval Observatory and the “AGIOS FOKAS” Surveillance Outpost on Mytilene, the “PANAGIA” Surveillance Outpost on Panagia islet of the Oinousses island complex, the “AGATHONISI” Surveillance Outpost and the “NIKIFOROS” Gunboat docked at Agathonisi, Kos, the “FARMAKONISI” Surveillance Outpost on Farmakonisi, the “KALOLYMNOS” Surveillance Outpost on Kalolymnos, the “AGIOS FANOURIOS” Surveillance Outpost on Symi, the Karpathos Island Defence Command and the Karpathos Air Detachment.
Mr Davakis had meetings with senior officers and generals of the Armed Forces, the local representatives of the regional and local self-government, as well as of religious authorities.
The Deputy Minister, while addressing the members and the conscripts of the Armed Forces, stated the following:
“I wish to express the sincere gratitude and recognition of the State for the duties you perform daily, with a high sense of responsibility, professionalism and devotion to your mission.
The combativeness of the Armed Forces is mainly based on its human workforce: the experienced and expertly trained members, but also the conscripts who serve with consistency, discipline and patriotism, particularly on our homeland’s borders.
Your presence and readiness constitute a guarantee of security and stability for the country and a source of pride for all Greeks.
On the occasion of the holidays, I wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, with good health, strength, personal and familial happiness”.
