He praised the work of the Supreme Military Sports Council of the Hellenic Armed Forces Secretariat, regarding the promotion and development of Military sports in the Armed and Security Forces. He felt extremely honoured that he had the opportunity to meet distinguished athletes during the visit, who undoubtedly constitute the cream of the Hellenic athleticism and at the same time are role-models for the young people, examples of fair competition, devotion to the goal, overcoming of obstacles and defence of the “fair play” ideal.
He pointed out that they are the most suitable ambassadors to spread to both the young people and the Armed and Security Forces personnel the principles and values of the Olympic Spirit, as well as the pride of MoD Political Leadership, because their presence honours the Armed Forces.
