On the evening of Thursday 3 July 2025 (https://www.opengov.gr/mindefence/?p=7191), the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence Bill “Utilisation of the Armed Forces’ Real Estate – Formation of a National Defence Real Estate Fund and of a Body for the Utilisation of the Armed Forces’ Real Estate – Action Plan for the management of the housing needs of the personnel of the Armed Forces” was submitted for public electronic consultation. The process of the public consultation will be completed on 18 July 2025 at 9 a.m.
The Bill consists of three main parts.
The first part aims at the more efficient and reasonable management of the Armed Forces’ Real Estate, through the formation of a fund for its joint administration, the National Defence Real Estate Fund, which will incorporate the pre-existing funds of the three services and their purposes, and whose mission will be to cover the national defence needs and to implement actions in order to cover the housing needs of the Armed Forces personnel.
The second Part creates a new body, the Body for the Utilisation of the Armed Forces’ Real Estate, tasked with the exclusive utilisation of the Armed Forces’ Real Estate, in the optimal and most efficient manner, through modern and developed processes, adapted to modern economy and market conditions.
Finally, the third Part introduces adjustments pertaining to the adoption and implementation of an action plan to cover the needs of the Armed Forces personnel.
In this framework, the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, calls for every social body and interested party to participate, submitting their proposals for any improvements in the clauses of the Bill.
