The Joint Ministerial Decision of the Minister of National Defence N. Dendias and the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Athanasios Petralias was published in the Government Gazette (GG B 5516/15-10-2025), with which the monthly wages of the conscripts and reservists of the Armed Forces increase.
The total yearly amount of the extra wages that the conscripts will get amounts to 24 million Euros and will be covered by the saving of resources of the Ministry of National Defence.
In summary, the new Joint Ministerial Decision includes:
• An important increase of the wages in all categories of the soldiers.
• Differentiation of the soldiers’ wages serving at the borders, when compared to those serving in the mainland.
• New categorisation of the conscripts with regard to their wages, with abolition/integration of specific categories.
Specifically:
• The soldiers who today receive 8.80€ monthly wages, with the new Joint Ministerial Decision will receive 100€ when serving at the borders and 50€ when serving in the mainland. It is a 1,036% increase for the soldiers serving at the borders and 468% increase for the respective ones serving in the mainland.
• Soldiers from multi-child families currently receive 35.00€, whereas with the new Joint Ministerial Decision they will receive 150€. It is an approximately 330% increase.
• Married or single soldiers with one child now receive 88.04€, whereas with the new Joint Ministerial Decision they will receive 150.00€. It is an approximately 70% increase.
• Married or single soldiers with two children currently receive 140.87€, whereas with the new Joint Ministerial Decision they will receive 200.00€. It is an approximately 42% increase.
• Married or single soldiers with three children now receive 234.78€, whereas with the new Joint Ministerial Decision they will receive 250.00€. It is an approximately 7% increase.
• For every additional child above three, an increment of fifty (50.00) Euros applies.
• Single orphan soldiers that have lost one parent currently receive 35.22€, whereas with the new Joint Ministerial Decision they will receive 150.00€. It is an approximately 326% increase.
• Single orphan soldiers that have lost both parents now receive 100.00€, whereas with the new Joint Ministerial Decision they will receive 200.00€. It is an approximately 100% increase.
The new Joint Ministerial Decision will apply from 01/01/2026.
