On Thursday, 8 June 2023, the Minister of National Defence Mr Alkiviadis Stefanis visited the Kastoria and Florina areas.
In Kastoria, he visited the 15th Infantry Regiment headquarters, where he had a short briefing and addressed the unit’s Members. He subsequently met with the Vice-Governor of Civil Protection, Climate Change, Environment and Infrastructure of the Western Macedonia Region Mr Thomas Manos, the Mayor of Kastoria Mr Ioannis Korentsidis, as well as the Reverend Metropolitan of Kastoria Kallinikos.
Mr Stefanis also contacted the Regional Governor of Western Macedonia Mr Giorgos Kasapidis.
In Florina, the Minister of National Defence visited the 1st Infantry Regiment “Saggarios” headquarters, where he addressed the military and civilian personnel and attended a briefing. Later on he met with the Mayor of Florina Mr Vasileios Giannakis and the Reverend Metropolitan of Florina, Prespes and Eordaia Theoklitos.
Mr Stefanis concluded his visit by visiting the Kelli village of which he is an Honorary Citizen. He was welcomed by the President of the Kelli Local Community Mr Athanasios Taskas, as well as by numerous village residents.
Upon conclusion of his visit, the Minister stated:
“Thanks to the short visit in Kastoria, Florina and Kelli, I had the opportunity to ascertain the extremely important work of the Armed Forces, both regarding deterrence and assistance provided to the Greek society.
The Armed Forces are present whenever the Country needs them”.
