On Sunday, 8 May 2022, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos represented the Hellenic Government in the festivities conducted in Symi, on the occasion of the 77th Anniversary since the signing of the Surrender Protocol of the Dodecanese and Crete Occupation Forces to the Allies, in the presence of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic, Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
The event was also attended by HNDGS/Chief General Konstantinos Floros and the last Sacred Company-Raiders survivor, Lieutenant General (ret.) Konstantinos Korkas.
The Minister attended the Doxology, officiated by the Reverend Metropolitan of Symi, Tilos, Chalki and Kastellorizo Chrysostomos B, as well as the panegyric delivery. Next, he attended the wreath laying at Symi Memorial by H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic and the parade of the island’s National Guard forces.
Mr. Panagiotopoulos’ visit was completed with a pilgrimage at Panormitis Monastery.
