The Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos inaugurates the International Defence and Security Exhibition “DEFEA 2021”

On Tuesday, 13 July 2021, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos will inaugurate, at 12:00 hours, the International Defence and Security Exhibition “DEFEA 2021”, which will take place at the “Metropolitan Expo” Exhibition Center, at Spata. The exhibition starts tomorrow and it will last until 15 July.

During the exhibition, the Minister of National Defence will have bilateral meetings with seven counterparts from EU member states and third countries as well, with personnel from the European Defence Agency (EDA), as well as members of the defence industry.

Specifically, Mr. Panagiotopoulos will have personal meetings with the Defence Minister of Cyprus Mr. Charalambos Petridis, the Defence Minister of Slovenia Mr. Matej Tonin, the Defence Minister of Portugal Mr. Joao Gomes Cravinho, the Defence Minister of Italy Mr. Lorenzo Guerini, the Defence Minister of Bosnia-Herzegovina Mr. Sifet Podzic, the Defence Minister of Northern Macedonia Ms Radmila Shekerinska, the Defence Minister of Georgia Mr. Juansher Burchuladze, as well as the EDA Executive Director Mr. Jiri Sedivy.

Tomorrow, at 14:00 hours, the Minister of National Defence will participate in the round table discussion regarding the EU initiatives for Defence; the discussion will also be attended by his counterparts from Cyprus, Slovenia, Portugal, and the EDA Executive Director. During the event, organized by the Ministry of National Defence, a discussion will be developed and proposals will be set forth by the participating Ministers regarding PESCO, CARD and EDP initiatives, as well as their contribution in the defence cooperation among the European Union member states.
