The Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias and the Deputy Minister of National Defence Giannis Kefalogiannis presented to the Ministerial Council, which met today, Monday 23 December 2024, under the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Draft Bill of the Ministry of National Defence regarding the Housing Programme and the utilisation of the real estate of the Armed Forces.
The subject of the Draft Bill which is incorporated in the total reform of the Armed Forces with the “2030 Agenda” is:
a. The cover of the housing needs of the Armed Forces members through the planning of a Housing Policy.
b. The enactment of rules and procedures for the reorganisation of the National Defence Funds, the National Fleet and Air Defence, through their integration in a uniform National Defence Real Estate Fund, with reinforced responsibilities regarding the implementation of the housing programme and the general care for the Armed Forces members.
c. The upgrade of the Armed Forces Real Estate Utilisation Agency through its transformation to the Legal Entity governed by Private Law “Armed Forces Real Estate Company”, introduced with the present bill, in order to more effectively manage and utilise the Armed Forces Real Estate.
