The MOD as first Implementing Body for the Training – Education of Personnel for Persons with Disabilities’ Support, in the context of the relative National Action Plan.

In line with the guidelines of the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, and the supervision of the MOD General Secretary Mr. Antonios Oikonomou, the Programme of Training – Education of Personnel for Persons with Disabilities’ Support was completed today, Friday 17 December 2021.

The operational aim that was set last January was completed with a special ceremony which took place in the Amphitheatre “Major Dimitrios Kamberos”, during which the attendance certificates were awarded, for the completion of the training, marking the MOD participation in the National Action Plan for Persons with Disabilities.

The ceremony was attended by the General Director of Financial Planning and Support Rear Admiral Dimitrios Ryziotis HN, and the Director of HNDGS Medical Directorate, Major General Dimitrios Hatzigeorgiou.

The training was performed in the form of seminars, in the installations of the National Confederation of Disabled People, in three training series, by presence of twenty personnel, the activities of which were completed on 10 December. Two personnel from the MOD, five from the HNDGS, twenty-five of the Army, fourteen of the Navy and fourteen of the Air Force, selected based on specific qualifications and criteria, participated in the training, which had a duration of thirty hours.

The operational aim regarding the implementation of the National Action Plan for Persons with Disabilities was achieved by the Ministry of National Defence, which is
the first central government body to complete in an immediate and effective way its mission. Sixty of the Ministry’s personnel were trained and educated, so as to assume duties of accompanying persons and sign language interpreters, and promote the culture of integration and elimination of discriminations against Persons with Disabilities at the MOD.
