Unloading and transfer of “M” type track vehicles & other materiel in military units

The Procedure of loading and lifting “M” type Armoured Vehicles and other materiel from the ports of unloading to the final destination Units was completed.

The Armoured Vehicles were provided gratis from the stock of the US Army and their procurement took place in the context of the valid agreements signed with the United States of America (LOA: Letter of Agreement).

The procedures of a support supply for unloading, transferring and integrating the vehicles into Units were conducted as follows:

a. On November 10, 2014, from the port of Piraeus, 113 (one hundred thirteen) track vehicles M113A2, 83 (eighty-three) track vehicles M577A2, 42 (forty-two) trailing vehicles M105 A2-A3, 2 (two) mortars 4,2mm and 18,103 (eighteen thousand one hundred three) missiles 14,5mm were carried to Units of the Area of Responsibility of the Higher army Support Military Command.

b. On November 11, 2014, from the port of Thessaloniki in total 83 (eighty-three) track vehicles M113A2, 62 (sixty-two) track vehicles M577A2, 72 (seventy-two) M901 ITV vehicles, 46 (forty-six) M1059 vehicles and 1 (one) TOMO M106 track vehicle were carried to Units of the Area of Responsibility of the Support Division.

The aforementioned armoured vehicles are expected to fill significant gaps in the maneuver units of the Hellenic Army.
