The Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis visited on Wednesday 5 November 2025 the Children’s Specialty Care Center (KEFP) that operates in a properly configured section in the Piraeus Naval Hospital facilities, accompanied by the Chief HNGS Vice Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras.
Waiting to welcome him was the Director KEFP Rear Admiral Dimosthenis Damianos, the Director of the Piraeus Naval Hospital Captain Theofanis Grentzelos and the Chairman of the Higher Naval Medical Committee (ENYE) Commodore Kyriazanos Ioannis.
Mr. Davakis engaged in conversations with specialized medical and nursing staff, while he was briefed on the needs, the challenges and the problems they are dealing with in their everyday lives.
The Deputy Minister expressed his congratulations for their high level of professionalism, their significant work and their substantial contribution to the support of children and families of members of the Armed Forces. He underlined that care provisions for children and families of members of the Armed Forces are a constant political priority for the Ministry of National Defence and made an immediate commitment to develop solutions to existing problems, aimed at improving infrastructure, stepping up staffing and upgrading the services provided.
At the end of the visit, Mr. Davakis stated:
“My presence today at the Children’s Specialty Care Center in the Piraeus Naval Hospital was more than just a visit; it was another experience.
I met with parents and children; I had conversations with the exceptional personnel and found out what is actually taking place here.
We are and we will remain by the side of such structures that actively support the members of the Armed Forces and their people and that offer strength and hope with love, scientific competence and dedication.
I was briefed in detail by Admiral Dimosthenis Damianos, Director of the Children’s Specialty Care Center, and I believe that we should further strengthen the Center’s capabilities”.
