The Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis went to Patmos, Leipsoi, Arkioi and Samos, on Holy Friday and Holy Saturday, 30 April and 1 May 2021.
On Holy Friday he visited the Patmos National Guard Battalion, where he exchanged wishes with the personnel on duty. During his meeting with the island’s Mayor Mr Eleftherios Pendes, issues pertaining to the Armed Forces contribution to society regarding this particular area were discussed. He paid his respects to the Cave of the Apocalypse and the Holy Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi, where a museum operates. At the port of Patmos, he met with the Harbourmaster and the Commander of the Police Station.
He then went to Leipsoi, where he attended the Devotional and the Procession of the bier of Christ at the Holy Monastery of Saint John the Theologian and in the morning of Holy Saturday he attended the Divine Liturgy of the First Resurrection. He also met with the island’s Mayor Mr Fotis Magos.
On Holy Saturday he visited Arkioi and met with the island’s inhabitants and the island’s only student Christos Kabosos, whose integration in the attendance of the secondary education lessons is being initiated, under the care of the Hellenic Government.
Finally, he went to the “PSILI AMMOS” Surveillance Outpost, on Samos, where he exchanged wishes for the Resurrection with the personnel on duty.
