On Monday 23 December 2024, the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias visited the frigate “Psara” which patrols the Aegean and remained there until this morning, Tuesday 24 December 2024.
The Minister was accompanied by Chief/HNDGS General Dimitrios Choupis, Chief/HNGS Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras HN and the Commander in Chief of the Hellenic Fleet Vice Admiral Polychronis Koulouris HN.
Mr Dendias took a tour of the Frigate, was briefed on the ship’s mission and discussed with members of the crew, stating the following in his address:
“I did not come here to deliver a long speech.
I came with Chief/HNDGS General Choupis and Chief/HNGS Admiral Kataras to stay for one night on the ship on duty and wish you “Merry Christmas”. To every woman, to every man and to your families, from whom you are far away this Christmas.
The Captain told me earlier that you will be home for the New Year.
I would like though, apart from the wishes for this holiday, to thank you for your service to the Country. For the excellent manner that you operated in “ASPIDES” Operation in the Red Sea and assure you of what you already know: that you are the providers of security for every Greek woman and man.
The Greek society is proud of you. It is demonstrated in every index. The Armed Forces are extremely respected by the Greek people. Therefore, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your services to the Country. Once again, Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
May you always be in good health, as well as your families!
Thank you Captain”.
This morning, a delegation of the crew chanted the Christmas carols to the Minister of National Defence, Chief/HNDGS, Chief/HNGS and Commander in Chief of the Hellenic Fleet.
