The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias visited on Saturday 18 December 2021, the last of his 3-day visit to Thraki, Army and Air Force Formations, Units and Surveillance Posts at the Regional Unit of Evros, accompanied by the Commander of D’ Army Corps Lieutenant General Aggelos
Houdeloudis.

Mr. Hardalias traveled along the Greek-Turkish borderline, and visited the “Marasia”, “1”, “Mavros Oggos”, “Petalo” and “Kipoi” Surveillance Posts where, among other things, he was briefed on the actions, procedures and means of surveillance over our borders.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence also visited the border bridge “Kipoi”, he inspected the guarding and monitoring means of the deterring obstacle (fence) at the region of “Petalo” Surveillance Post, and he discussed with the mobile patrol of the north borders, via cryptosecure communication (video), while visiting the “Mavros Oggos” Surveillance Post.

In the context of his visits, he also visited the HQ of the 1st Control and Warning Station Squadron and the 219 Mobile Field Surgical Hospital.

During his visits, the Deputy Minister of National Defence was briefed by the Units’ Commands and the 219 Mobile Field Surgical Hospital on their mission, task and activities, and visited their installations. In view of the Christmas holidays, he discussed and exchanged wishes with the military and political personnel, the patients in 219 Mobile Field Surgical Hospital and their accompanying persons.

Lastly, Mr. Hardalias had a joint meeting at Didymoteicho Officers Club with His Eminence Metropolitan of Didymoteicho, Orestiada and Soufli Mr. Damaskinos, the Mayor of Didymoteicho Mr. Romylos Hatziyannoglou and the Mayor of Orestiada Mr. Vassilios Mavridis, and the Head of Orestiada Police Directorate, Police Colonel Charalambos Eleftheriadis.
